Probably the most recognized spring wildflower, the white trillium, is the provincial emblem of Ontario and the state wildflower of Ohio. Found in rich deciduous forests and almost any patch of undisturbed and shaded soil. It grows from a rhizome root system but starts life as a seed, quite often spread by mice.
